All of us want to save money and try to save money wherever and whenever it is possible. Because of this, we try to do a lot of things on our own even if some things are difficult to do. One of these things is dismantling a freezer. There are a few problems that will require you to dismantle a freezer such as ice not freezing properly, some leak, the refrigerator is not cool enough, noisy freezer, etc.

The need for right tools

A lot of people try to do this on their own as they think getting it done by a professional will cost a huge amount of money. They are not wrong to think that way. Dismantling a freezer is not such an easy task to do but it is not something that is impossible. You can do it by yourself but for doing that you will require some important tools.

You may or may not have some of the tools at home but you will definitely have to arrange a few of them. But you will be able to find these easily in a hardware shop. Some of the tools that you will require are screwdriver, a wrench, level, a long brush, a nut driver and a vacuum. These will probably be enough for you to dismantle a freezer.

Components to look for during repair

To fix the refrigerant system, you will require two important tools, an oxyacetylene torch and a silver solder. Remember that you want to remove the compressor, evaporator and the associated tube without exposing the refrigerant to the air. This is an offense in some places. All you need to do is squeeze the tubing and cut it and close the ends so that the refrigerant is sealed and does not leak.

But it is not as easy as it sounds. You can call a refrigerator repair service so that refrigerant is recovered and then you can go on and repair the freezer yourself. This will not cost you a lot of money and it will make the task of dismantling the freezer easier for you.

Exhibit Personal Safety

While doing this, you need to be very careful as there can be a lot of things which are sharp and you do not want to get hurt. You also need to drain the oil inside the compressor to make it work properly. Also, be careful while doing it on your own because the oil may come out with a force if not handled properly and it can hurt your eyes.

These are a few things that you need to take care of if you decide to dismantle a freezer yourself. It is not an easy task but it is possible so you can do it if you know the correct way and technique. You can ask any professional as well and they may be able to tell you how to do it. If you are still not sure, it is better to call a professional and get it done.
